The ERF project is responsible for the creation of the Software Research
Laboratory (SoReL). SoReL provides hardware and software facilities to
support projects in the following areas:
- Distributed Computing
- Human-Computer Interaction
- Information Systems
Hardware facilities:
- 7 x Dell Dimension Pentium 500 workstations (256M RAM/ 7G HD) with
19" triniton SVGA monitors
- 1 x Dell Dimension Dual-Pentium 550 wokstation (512M RAM / 9G
HD)(acting as server)
- 1 x Sun Enterprise 250 Server (512M RAM / 18G RAID) (acting as
application and file server)
- 1 x HP Scanner
- 1 x HP LaserJet 4050 Printer
Software facilities:
- Windows 2000 Professional
- RedHat Linux (installed in a secondary disk in workstations)
- MS Office 2000 Developer
- MS Visual Studio Enterprise
- Inprise JBuilder 3.5
- Inprise C++ Builder 6
- Visibroker for Java / C++
- Oracle 8i
