What is Summer Station ?
    Summer Station is an intensive 5 days series of workshops for selected SMET undergraduate students.

When ? Where ?
  Summer Station '01 took place from May 28 - June 1 2001 at UPR Mayagüez.

What kind of training ?
  Summer Station will focus on exposing student to GIS-RS technology by field trip collaborating private and government agencies, workshops by researchers of Preliminary Program in various disciplines of this technology as well as training in team working, computer and research skills. Summer Station will bring you closer to upper level undergraduate students actively engage in research. At the end of the Station an individual portfolio of the learning experience will be generated.

Summer Workshops Objectives
* To motivate and train first year undergraduate students from SMET discipline in scientific skills to pursue research in Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems.

* Familiarize with the technology of Remote Sensing (RS) and Geographical Information System (GIS).

* Recognize the importance of RS and GIS.

* Identify RS and GIS applications.

* Provide interaction with federal and private agencies using the technology in the workplace.

* Develop written, oral presentations, team work and computer skills.

* Nature an interdisciplinary interaction among peers from SMET Programs.

* Develop a mentor relation with PaSCoR faculty and upper level research students.
